Cheap golf on the Costa del Sol: autumn green fees compared
Until mid-November, most clubs near Marbella charge their high-season rates, and the cheapest published 18 holes on a full-length course near Marbella is Cabopino's €80 twilight rate, then Santa María's €85 after 14:00. Wait until 16 November or December and several clubs drop by €20 to €50, and the short courses start at €22 at twilight, or €30 for 9 holes.
These are the visitor rates that 11 of the 16 clubs we covered between Mijas and Estepona on 6 October 2026 published on their own sites, as we checked them that day. The other five publish no visitor rate. Rates can change, and the price a club's booking page shows on the day may differ from its tariff.
What does 18 holes cost right now?
For a round between today, Thursday 8 October, and 15 November, on the seven full-length courses that publish a rate, cheapest first:
| Course | Drive | 18 holes | Buggy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cabopino | 20 min | €98; €80 twilight | extra, €40 |
| Santa María | 10 min | €85 from 14:00; €105 at 8:00–8:50 | extra, €30–40 |
| Los Arqueros | 20 min | €110 | extra, €40 |
| Higuerón | 10 min | €139 | shared, included |
| Calanova | 20 min | €150; €130 early riser or twilight | included |
| Atalaya | 15 min | €175 | extra, €44 |
| Los Naranjos | 10 min | €177 | extra, €54 |
Drive: approximate minutes from Marbella centre. Santa María's morning rate (9:00–13:50) is €130, and its buggy costs €40 in the morning, €35 for the early slot and €30 at twilight.
Two things the table hides. First, the buggy changes the order: Higuerón and Calanova include one, so a golfer who always rides should compare their €139 and €150 with Arqueros at €110 plus €40, or Atalaya at €175 plus €44. Cabopino also sells 18 holes with a shared buggy for €116 (€98 at twilight, from 14:00), less than its green fee plus a €40 buggy. Second, Atalaya is the one club here with two 18-hole courses: the Old Course (par 72, 1968) and the New Course (par 71, 1990).
When do the prices fall?
Each club sets its own season dates, so the drop doesn't come on one day. If your dates are flexible, these are the ones that matter:
| Course | To 15 Nov | 16–30 Nov | December |
|---|---|---|---|
| Santa María | €130 | €130 | €85 |
| Cabopino | €98 | €76 | €62 |
| Los Arqueros | €110 | €110 | €90 |
| Higuerón | €139 | €110 | €110 |
| Calanova | €150 | €150; €130 from 23 Nov | €100 |
| Atalaya | €175 | €175 | €125 |
| Los Naranjos | €177 | €139 with buggy | €139 with buggy |
Santa María's figures are its morning rate (9:00–13:50); in December its early bird is €75 and its twilight €65. Cabopino's €62 runs to 27 December; from 28 to 31 December it charges a Christmas rate of €76. Higuerón and Calanova include a buggy in every season.
So from 16 November three clubs get cheaper (Cabopino, Higuerón and Los Naranjos), Calanova follows on 23 November, and December is cheaper at all seven. The largest drop is at Los Naranjos: from €177 plus a €54 buggy now, to €139 with the buggy included from 16 November.
The short courses, from €22
If you want to play rather than tick off a famous layout, four 9-hole courses in the area publish lower rates:
- Magna Marbella (15 min): €32 for 9 holes, or €55 for unlimited play all day. A buggy is €25 for 9 holes, and there's a Toptracer range.
- Banús Executive (10 min): 9 par-3 holes for €30 if you're not a member, 18 holes (two laps) for €55, and a €22 twilight rate. A buggy is €20 for 9 holes. Its English rates page has these prices; the Spanish one still shows older, lower ones.
- La Noria (25 min, Mijas): 9 holes, par 33, played twice for 18. €60 for 18 holes and €38 for 9 until 14 December; its tariff publishes no rate after that. The buggy is €20.
- El Higueral (20 min, Benahavís): 9 holes, par 36. €90 for 18 holes until 31 October and €80 from 1 November, with twilight at €50. Its site still labels these rates 2025, so check the price when you book.
Who doesn't publish a rate?
Santa Clara, Villa Padierna (three 18-hole courses), El Paraíso, La Quinta (27 holes) and Marbella Club Golf Resort publish no visitor green fee that we could find on their sites when we checked on 6 October. You can still see their free tee times, with the price their booking page asks, in TeesDeSalida.
How far ahead can you book?
Further than you probably need. We measure how many days ahead each club's own booking page opens. Most of the 16 open at least 120 days ahead, so a December trip can be booked today. The exceptions are El Paraíso (49 days), Banús (64 days) and La Noria (30 days): for a mid-December round at La Noria, the sheet opens around mid-November.
Before you book
- Compare the live price with the tariff. Online prices don't always match the published rate. In Madrid on 5 October, two clubs' booking pages asked less than their own tariff (our dated snapshot). The tariff is a guide; the booking page is the price.
- Count the buggy. Five of the seven full-length courses above charge it apart, at €30 to €54.
- Pick the time. Cabopino's and Santa María's twilight rates, Santa María's early bird, and Calanova's early riser and twilight are the cheapest way onto those courses in high season.
- Book with the club. Every tee time in the app links to the club's own booking page; we take no fee.
For each club's layout, facilities and contacts, see golf on the Costa del Sol, and for amateur competitions in the area, the tournaments page.
